Today didn’t start well, I had a terrible nights sleep and then was sick while I was getting dressed. I met my guide at 8am and before I could say anything he asked how I was, I told him I was still poorly. The driver and guide ate their breakfast very quickly, I couldn’t eat anything, as we thought it was altitude sickness, they were keen to get me at a lower altitude quickly. I had a cup of Coca tea to try and help my symptoms and another magic tablet and we left this very different hotel.

Today we were travelling to Uyuni Salt Flats which meant another drive across some amazing country.  We stopped to watch flamingos feeding on lakes but the photos are great because I couldn’t get close enough.

We arrived at Uyuni Salt Flats around 2, earlier than expected because I was still poorly.  I had to sit in reception for nearly an hour before my room was ready and when I finally got to it I was sick again.  I kept being ill and realised that I would have to have medication given intravenously if I was going to get better.  I got reception to call my guide, they were over half an hour away as the hotel I was staying in was right on the salt flats. In brief they took me to hospital, where Eusebio translated between me and the Doctor, I got a jab and loads of different types of medication, which Eusebio got for me, the Doctor advised it was not altitude sickness but something I had eaten. Once I had been treated the driver and guide then took me back to my hotel, what heroes!
