A quiet day today, lots of waiting around at the airport, my flight to Belize was delayed, so I got to my hotel late in the afternoon. The staff are very friendly and helpful and my room is lovely.  The hotel was built in 1927 as a family home and converted into a hotel  in 1998. The ground floor had to be raised five and a half feet, because the ceilings were too low to be used as rooms.

Belize city is not the capital of the country, Belmopan is, I had a wander around the area the hotel is in which didn’t take very long, there isn’t much here really, had a late lunch and then sat on the veranda which has a delightful cooling breeze blowing in from the sea, it is very hot and humid here, it’s also the rainy season, but thankfully there is not a rain cloud in the sky.
