Up at 4 this morning as my cab came at 4.30 to get me to the airport for my 7am flight to Los Mochis. The airport was really busy, it has good facilities, I got myself a soya cappuccino and did some work on this blog as I had problems trying to upload photos at the hotel in Guadalajara. The flight was delayed, I was asleep by the time we took off.

They have a system here at the airports where one has to pay for a cab at a booth, prices are according to the zone one wants to go to, a ticket is provided which is given to the cab driver and he takes one to the destination.

Los Mochis is quite a large town, with nothing of any interest to note except it is the start of the Copper Canyon train, and that’s the only reason I am here.  After I checked into my rather basic hotel, thankfully they let me have my room when I arrived, which was brilliant, I went for a walk.  I didn’t make an adequate mental note of the turns I took and I got lost.  I think they don’t get many Europeans here as I got a lot of stares from the locals as I was mooching about. A kindly old chap asked me something in Spanish, which of course I didn’t understand, but I think he knew I was lost so bless him he walked me all the way back to the hotel, what a star. He knew where it was because I always write the hotel name and address on a piece of paper in case the cab drivers don’t understand my, quite terrible, pronunciation and I had this with me…. the kindness of strangers.

I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, they don’t speak English and the menu is all in Spanish so I worked out what things were by using the translation app on my phone, and managed to stuff my face, the staff were helpful and friendly. My train ticket had been delivered to the hotel, I used Audley to arrange this part of my trip as I couldn’t buy a ticket in advance myself, so once I managed to organise a cab for tomorrow I spent more time uploading photos for this, and the internet here is really poor so it took me all day to try and upload stuff.
