I’m reposting some of my favourite places I have visited. Today is a small island off the coast of Belize in Central America, the only reason I came here was for the lobster festival, I planned my travel in Central America to ensure I got here for this weekend. It wasn’t the most comfortable journey to get to Caye Caulker, but it was worth it. I was on a 105 day trip to visit the countries still on my ‘want to do’ list, (this is where the name of this blog comes from see ‘105 days’ from the menu for more about this). It was a very busy trip, visiting 14 countries, I wrote about every day of the trip and recorded the number of flights; modes of transport, as they were quite diverse; hotel stays; etc. I took these photos on a very cheap smart phone, so the quality is not always great but hopefully will give you some inspiration.

It was a five minute walk to the ferry terminal this morning, for the ride over to Caye Caulker. Not the most pleasant of experiences, lots of people in a small, uncomfortable, hot, grubby, boat but it got me to the island. I didn’t think there were any vehicles on the island but there are loads of golf carts, which serve as taxis, so I got one to the hotel.
The hotel is yards from the beach, actually everything here is just yards from the beach.
The island is beautiful and this weekend it’s the Lobster Fest, the reason I came here.
I had a wander around and then had lobster for lunch, delicious, it was happy hour so I got two cocktails for the price of one.
There’s a party atmosphere on this little place and the smell of barbeques filled the air.
Once the sun set a steel band kicked things off before the DJ came on.
